Newsletter #3 9/8 - 9/15

Updated: Sep 11, 2023

Dear Wonderful Families,

Here is your weekly update! We will NOT have Live Lessons on Tuesday, September 12th and Wednesday, September 13th. I will be out for LETRS Training on Tuesday and will be attending the Meet MOCA at the Zoo event on Wednesday. I will be at the Springfield location. If you email or text me on either of these days, I might not be able to get back to you until Thursday due to having to travel out of town for both events.

Please click this LINK to view our newsletter for this week! It will have our live lesson schedule for the week and any supplies you will need!

We will be doing our Science Portfolio from Thursday’s Science Lesson during Live Lesson on Friday. So if you would like to do your Portfolio with us during Friday’s Live Lesson, please just skip the lesson on Thursday and I will take care of it for you if you attend and complete the activity from Live Lesson. (I do have to see your student completing the activity from the lesson. If they don’t, then it is still expected that you go back and complete it together.) You will need pipe cleaners, scissors, tape, and bubble solution (there is a recipe in the lesson to make your own) to complete this activity.

Many of you have reached out asking for the link to view my lesson recordings. I will add it below. Please remember that it is always linked on my website, along with a variety of other helpful websites for you to access. 🙂

In my updates I like to try to give you resources that you can use with your students. Today I want to highlight the website Epic! Epic! Is a virtual library filled with ebooks of all levels and topics. It is completely free for you to use from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM as long as you long in under our class. You can use this LINK to access the website. Use the class code: aan4826 and select your students name. Once in, you can change your student's avatar and get to reading! It’s a great way to explore books together to start building the love of reading with your student. Research shows that reading 20 minutes a day makes a huge impact in their success as readers later on. Work on finding the letters we have learned together during the live lesson and letting them find and read the heart words! It’s almost like they are detectives.

We do need to start wrapping up our Kindergarten Readiness testing this week and next week. So if you have not signed up yet, please click this LINK to do so. (Please do NOT sign up again if you are already scheduled for a testing session. This takes away from those families who have not signed up yet.) If you have not signed up by the end of the day Monday (9/11) I will start calling families to ensure we get it done. The Kindergarten Readiness Testing is something that the state does require all Kindergarten teachers to do for every student, so it is mandatory.

Have a great week, and hopefully I will see some of you at the Zoo on Wednesday!
